Family Class / Sponsorship / Spousal visa

To become eligible for family class sponsorship visa one must have close relatives who is willing to sponsor and that relative must be a Canadian citizen or Canadian permanent resident and residing in Canada.

One of the following relationships must be required between the sponsor and sponsored person:

  • Spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner 16 years or older.
  • Dependent child as per immigration rules.
  • Adopted child under 18 years of age.
  • Grandparents.
  • Brother, sister, nephew, niece, or grandchild who is orphan, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship.

The Canadian citizens who are residing outside Canada are also eligible to sponsor their spouse and children, if they can prove immigration officers that they have intension of returning to Canada for permanent settlement.
